General scenes

St. Albans Row in 1913 has a shabby appearance about it. Ormans the fishmongers is on the left and just past it the Oyster Bar of James Lomas.

Warwick Road (late 1930s I think) , the tram lines are still there although the trams stopped running in the early 30s. Mesengers paper shop is on the right and on the left is Robsons Cooked Meats. Although the people and traffic have changed, the view is much the same today.

Old Carel Cross

C. 1905/10, appears to be used as an advertising board. Behind the cross is Ridleys the chemist, Thurnams printworks is on the right and the Royal Liver Friendly Society on the left.

General scene at the Town Hall with buses waiting to depart to outlying villages, note the charabanc just to the right of the cross. Sitting on the steps of the cross, several men enjoy a quiet moment with the days papers.

Market Day about 1907, stalls are being erected ready for the days trade. Passing the Crown & Mitre is one of the citys trams. In the Greemarket Jacksons Fancy Goods shop prepares for
opening.
