A collection of cards of people and places.
A very interesting card showing the old Carlisle Gasworks (bottom centre) that stood where the Viaduct Car Park is now, also the Gaol (centre right) and the Viaduct Goods Yard (left of the gasworks.
I believe this to be the Cumberland Infirmary as the card was produced by Beatys of Carlisle and it is a Carlisle photographer. The woman on the left appears to have her hand in a bucket of water and is attached to a wired machine, early electrotherapy?
Entrance to Tullie House, this card was posted in 1905.
A view of the Cumberland Infirmary around 1910.
Men posing in the pillory and stocks. Despite the caption it doubt they are for real. I like the horseshoe clogs of the man on the right. Circa 1906.
I believe the King is standing on the high ground near to the cricket club entrance, possibly reviewing troops or just the people of the city.
Lastly Jimmy Dyer, immortalised by his statue in the Lanes.
Jimmy, if my memory serves me right he actually served on H.M.S Victory.
